A Roman proper name, esp. in the Sulpician gens; whence Servii is sometimes used for Sulpicii, Oth. ap. Tac. H. 2, 48.—Esp., Servius Sulpitius Rufus, an eminent jurist and statesman, contemporary with Cicero, alled Servius, Dig. 47, 2, 76, § 1; Gai. Inst. 2, 244; v.
